Written from the perspective of an 11 year old in 1990, Field Guide is a catalog of every alien to appear on the series Star Trek: The Next Generation while simultaneously illuminating the authors obsession with the show that allows him to escape the emotional neglect of his mother. Subsequent issues move things one season forward in the show, as well as a year forward in the life of the author.
